Licensed states

This page contains specific information on licensing requirements for Clinical Laboratory Scientists in each respective licensed state. The current states that require a license after obtaining a national certification is ever changing and subject to change based on each states respective legislative governing body. Typically, laboratory personnel licensure requirements include paying annual fees to the state, as well as, obtaining continuing education and professional competency requirements.

There are currently 11 states with laboratory personnel licensure requirements as of 2023:

California, Hawaii, Florida, New York, North Dakota, Tennessee, Louisiana, Nevada, West Virginia, Rhode Island, and Montana. Puerto Rico also has licensure requirement.
